Join LOCAL Artists, Schools, and Makers in exploring the nexus of science, style, sustainability, self-expression and community while expressing their “Eco-style.”
During this one-day event, attendees will enjoy a walk through our woods while taking in a live fashion show along the trail.
We’re partnering with Jay Calderin, founder of Boston Fashion Week
Jay is a Latinx educator at the School of Fashion Design Boston, MA College of Art and The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. His own fashion design has graced the pages of Elle, Vogue, and The NYT Sunday Styles section.
Jay will be lead consult on the Forest of Fashion project, coaching participants towards executing their vision – from concept to finished garment – via a series of Zoom meetings through the 24-25 school year leading up to the event.
The event will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at BEEC, using live models. The Zoom meetings will be held on December 17th, February 18th, and March 18th, all at 5pm.
Submissions can include: a garment, an accessory, or a layering piece. A thrifted, upcycled look is also acceptable, as is an art piece made from foraged, natural materials. The piece should aim to “solve a problem” related to climate change/sustainability, whether that is keeping materials out of the waste stream, to preventing skin cancer, to an inventive fabric that uses few resources to produce. Or it can be a celebration of nature!
