For Schools

BEEC has been crafting innovative, hands-on, natural science programs for area schools for more than 25 years. We are honored to have this privilege of supporting teachers and providing place-based learning opportunities for the youth of our community.

We offer a variety of class programs for area schools, as well as after school programs and a winter sports option during January and February.  Hoot Out! School Program Stories – shares a selection of program highlights.

Class Programs

Our class programs use the scientific process, hands-on activities, and outdoor experiences to help students learn about a wide range of life, earth, physical and environmental science topics. Class programs are designed with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in mind.

Afterschool Programs

BEEC’s afterschool programs provide seasonal learning opportunities through play and exploration in schoolyard habitats.

Winter Outdoor Adventures

Winter Outdoor Adventure programs are offered through local schools as a Winter Sports option for students to explore, investigate and connect with the winter world.

Forest Classrooms

Forest Classrooms are as unique as each school, it’s surroundings and it’s learners. Typically they are spaces where students spend part of everyday, or perhaps all of one day a week learning and living outdoors.

Outdoor Learning during Covid-19

During the pandemic, we remained actively committed to connecting children with the natural world, and felt fortunate to be able to continue working closely with our local community of educators and learners.  We created a resource to help schools transition to teaching outside.  Programs with BEEC’s Naturalists Educators took place outdoors and in person when possible, and when that was not possible we provided resources to support teachers and students outdoor learning.  Find BEEC’s resources for educators here.
