BEEC is hosting the 4th southeastern VT/ southwestern NH Solar Sprint on Thursday, May 29th 2025.
Last year, 100 students in 7th and 8th grade from six different schools—Bellows Falls Middle School, Putney Central School, Dummerston School, Keene Middle School, Chesterfield School, and Twin Valley Middle School. There were 40 model solar cars that competed against each other in a double elimination race. Awards were given for 1st and 2nd Place for Speed, Creative Engineering Award and Kids Choice Award for the coolest looking car. Many thanks to our Sponsors who provided money for materials for building, solar panels for the cars, and T-shirts for all the students. Our sponsors were Chroma Technology, Southern Vermont Solar, Integrated Solar, Noyes Volkswagen and Commonwealth Dairy. Many thanks also to Brattleboro Rec and Parks who provided a great indoor space in the skating rink due to the rainy weather. The solar cars had to speed down the track with battery packs.
