Hike and Seek: Family Adventures
Saturdays, 10 am – 12 pm
BEEC and the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro are collaborating to provide guided, outdoor, free, family adventures. Families are invited to partake in short walks to local spots with naturalists and educators from both organizations. These excursions are themed and are designed to inspire families to have fun together outdoors.
- All ages are invited, though these outings are designed primarily for children ages 5-11 and their caregivers.
- Pre-registration is required.
- Each walk will provide a snack and include basic trail safety.
- Transportation is available from downtown Brattleboro.
- Outdoor gear is available depending on the season and the program.

Sept 14 ~ Hawk Migration, at Putney Mountain, Putney
We will hike to the top of the mountain, play some bird games, and hope to see some migrating hawks. We have binoculars to share. -
Sept 28 ~ Paddle Safari, at Retreat Meadows, Brattleboro
Join us on a paddling safari to discover the bustling life both big and small. We have canoes for families. -
Oct 5 ~ Nature Art, at Black Gum Swamp, Vernon
We will amble to the swamp that will hopefully be ablaze with autumn colors, where we will create nature art with the falling leaves. -
Oct 19 ~ Tiny Travelers, at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center, Brattleboro
Tis the season of seeds and nuts! Come discover how they travel, and play games as animals helping seeds disperse. - Nov 2 ~ Shelter Building, at Retreat Farm, Brattleboro
It is stick season. Join us for a fun stick challenge and build your skills with debris shelters. -
Nov 16 ~ Night Hike, at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center, Brattleboro
Join us on a hike to listen to the sounds for sounds of the night and learn about night creatures around a fire.
* Note – this program is at a different time, in the evening from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. -
Dec 7 ~ Nature’s Treasures, at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center, Brattleboro
We will gather nature’s treasures and make wreaths to bring in the green during this winter season. - Jan 11 – Fire Making, at Retreat Farm, Brattleboro
Join us to practice your fire making skills and together enjoy a snack around the fire.
